After a labor post-production and continuous postponement due to the pandemic from Covid-19, the 25th 007, No Time to Die, is aired on TV8 Thursday 6th June 2026. Daniel Craig returns for the last time to play James Bond, at the end of a cycle over ten years and with five films behind him. The character he played was the longest of the entire saga and, at first, the most discussed.
La trama di No Time To Die
After leaving active service, Bond retires to peaceful life in Jamaica. His quiet bubble is interrupted when his brotherly friend Felix Leiter, CIA agent, asks him for help to free a scientist from his kidnappers. The situation falls fast, leading Bond to return to service to follow the traces of a mysterious criminal armed with a new and dangerous technology.
Recensione No Time To Die – Il commento
We arrived at the last round of boa [perhaps ndr.] for the James Bond of Daniel Craig who, since 2006 Casino Royale at No Time to Die, gave new lustro and raviato a saga that has passionate millions of spectators. A last great mission, despite having hung the nail tux, for a Bond increasingly protagonist and figure-centric. In No Time to Die is staged a narrative structure by “bondian” manual, with a climax culminated by a twist plot in some ways called, as otherwise different expedients used throughout history.
For the entire duration of the film, everything is about its shoulders: actions, dialogues, situations. All to try to give a worthy conclusion, to a cycle started 15 years ago, and to an actor who succeeded in, with his interpretation, to age a character who risked to remain stale and fossilized over time.
The film is long. Very. But it flows to the viewer without any problem. Each scene is concise and not prolissa, thanks also to the excellent cast present and to the tight rhythms. Rami Malek embellishes the products to which it takes part. Covered with antagonist cloths, he convinces with his excellent interpretation although, in fact, he is relegated to the role of villain a little too subtone and little exploited. A villain not with the capital C so, in some ways, he feels almost empathy. Moreover, Craig’s Bond is a character with a great heart; of colder spies the universe created by Ian Fleming had them as well as of worse villains.
The remaining cast is a contour to a Daniel Craig show, also the novelty with the introduction of a new 007, interpreted by Lashana Lynch (will start a new saga with the first female secret agent, of color and not by the name James Bond?!), passes in the second floor, with a role from “shoulder” and little incisive. The intent of the screenwriters is unclear: to introduce the character at the tip of the feet, so as to tease the imagination of the viewer but not to steal the scene to the final greetings and to the conclusion of the story of Craig, or simple contour character? Moreover “007 is only a number”, as Bond says to his colleague 007.
In No Time to Die, Cary Fukunaga has shown its versatility with a remarkable style exercise: the registic choices and photography squeeze the eye to different genres; from the horror with some jumps and cold tones to the vintage with a pastel and saturated patina; from the purest action of the term to emotional, with scenes loaded with pathos.
With the cult quotation of the shot with a turn, Craig hovers and leaves the character who consecrated it in the olympus of world cinematography, aware of being the most good and hearty Bond. Despite all, this is not enough to the bottom: the film holds the viewer well but lacks bite and incisivity. A screenplay at times weak, with gender clicks and predictable situations.
