All Except Te is the perfect American romantic comedy for 2023/24. Simple, light, funny, politically correct while entering here and there more or less incorrect jokes. Explicit without being vulgar, romantic without being sore. And with a group of actors coming from the world of seriality and always able to bring home the result. All except you arrive on June 8th on Rai 1.
Tutti tranne te, il ritorno della commedia romantica
In Italy he was late compared to the rest of the world where All Except you cashed over $100 million by overcoming Bridget Jones’ previous. Difficult to say what pushed the viewers to go to see it, maybe the Australian locations? Perhaps the proruptive beauty of Sydney Sweeney of Euphoria and The White Lotus and the next protagonist of Madame Web? Perhaps the beauty of Glen Powell (who is a bit missing a role that makes it really recognizable)? Or the cast composed of so many known faces? Maybe it was the well-built trailer.
What is certain is that it is difficult to imagine that many have moved for the plot that is quite simple. Bea and Ben meet by chance as it happens only in romantic movies, with the man who saves the woman from an embarrassing situation. They spend a fantastic day, as happens only in romantic movies that from the meeting you spend hours together. Then there is an immediate break due to the case. Too bad we’re in a movie so there’s got to be a way to get them back, and it ends up that despite living in Boston, they’re connected. He is in fact the best friend of the future bride of her sister. They weren’t even in a little village. They all fly to Australia for marriage (ah these rich bourgeois and progressive with paid transoceanic marriages wonder how) and of course the situation takes a romantic comedy turn.
Una divertente semplice commedia romantica
Everything is therefore forced (it snows in Boston but he turns with jacket and shirt and she with a silk shirt and coat so much that when you see the snow come down you think it is dust), the outcome is predictable as it is inevitable that it is for a comedy. But the screenplay by director Will Gluck impeccablely holds with funny jokes and characters who, despite their excessive and extremised sides, manage to be realistic.
She laughs as it’s right that she’s in a romantic comedy. The tenderest could also move for some successful steps and designed to become “iconic” thanks to the soundtrack. Everything so stands and the vision of All but you pass without big hits and having a nice evening. If the romantic comedy is current for jokes and constructions of the scenes the same cannot be said for the dubbing still standing in the 1990s between tones of voice that make fake and unnatural characters and expressions out of time and space.
Il cast
