Murder on the Nile, trailer and poster

Assassinio sul Nilo, la trama

Hercule Poirot is invited to take part in a honeymoon expedition on the Nile. Having married are the beautiful heiress Linnet Ridgeway and the adventurous but spying Simon Doyle. Looking for revenge on their pursuit Jacqueline de Bellefort, friend of Linnet and former girlfriend of Simon. But Linnet has many other enemies, most of which are part of the comitive, in a twist of old hates, personal interests and various ambiguities. Hercule Poirot will have to solve a complicated case, which will make him lose a great friend.

Intrattenimento puro

The first adjective that comes to mind to describe this film is enjoyable. If you are looking for immersive entertainment, great images, roboating music and visually fulfilling shots, all seasoned by a yellow with notes of thrillers nothing bad, this is the cinema experience for you. Beautiful actors, beautiful costumes, carried out in the plot perfectly underlined by a sumptuous soundtrack (made by the composer Patrick Doyle, historical collaborator of Branagh): it is the perfect family film that wants to spend an evening at the cinema.

Una doppia storia

To make this film even more interesting, the fact that two stories happen simultaneously, with different modes and opposite directions. To that linked to the crimes that take place on the luxury ship that crosses the Nile and its navigators, that goes towards destruction and happens on the surface, it is also side by side with that of the personal growth of the protagonist, underground and constructive. Assassine on the Nile, in fact, opens with a flashback that explains the origin of Poirot’s baffons, the trauma immediately during the war, his first love. While the plot unfolds our hero is deceived, enraged, suffers and grows. In the end, a last scene makes us hope: that he is finally ready to go back to life?

Meriti e demeriti

Great surprise of this cast is Emma Mackey, a 1996 class, known to the general public for her role in Sex Education, a Netflix series in which she plays Maeve. His Jaqueline de Bellefort is passionate, angry, desperate and insane. Not at the height much more established actors than her, such as Armie Hammer and Gal Gadot.
