La casa delle finestre che ridono: il film
On the occasion of the film’s return, a new celebratory poster was created, found below:
The house from the windows that laugh (Italy, 1976. 110 minutes), distributed by CG Entertainment in collaboration with Cat People, will be proposed in the room in the version restored in 4K, realized by SND and Cineteca di Bologna at the laboratory L’Immagine Ritrovata, starting from the original negatives made available by ACEK.
Among the most representative of Italian yellow, the film shines with its own light thanks to the very personal charge that Avati instills to the story, creating atmospheres so tied to the real and suspended in the nightmare. Its is a black and ruthless rural fable, where tension and mystery live, and in which are the most natural and simple elements to pulsate of terror and raccapriccio.
Stefano, a young restorer, is in charge of bringing back to light a macabre fresco in an isolated village of the lower Padana: the painting, the work of a suicidal artist years ago, depicts the martyrdom of San Sebastiano in the arms of two women with monstrous appearances. As the restoration proceeds, Stephen finds himself wrapped in an atmosphere of omerity and terror, discovering that behind the colors of that wall there is a bloody secret that the community desperately tries to protect.
“It’s a story of crazy, until yesterday I told harmless, fantastic matti, who dared good. Here I told one of the six hundred stories of our land, invented there for there, with only intent to frighten. And frightening, then, I tell you about when I was a child, it was way of educating,” as the director said.
