Netflix’s youngest detective comes back with a new adventure. Enola Holmes 3, available on the platform since 1 July, shows Millie Bobby Brown as the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes, the protagonist of the film saga inspired by Nancy Springer’s novels. After the success of the first two chapters, released in 2020 and 2022 respectively, the franchise is preparing for an important turn, with a new setting and a new director behind the camera.
In fact, Philip Barantini is the director of the third film, already appreciated for the Adolescence series, while the script is once again signed by Jack Thorne. For Enola it is the most complex challenge faced until now, in a story that promises to interweave mystery, adventure and personal events.

According to the official synopsis spread by Netflix, the new adventure brings Enola Holmes to Malta, where his personal and professional aspirations collide in a more intricate and dangerous case than anyone else has faced previously. The young detective will be involved in an international investigation that will confront her with new challenges and decisions aimed at affecting her future. But looking at the trailer you notice how this adventure could be linked to the mysterious disappearance of her brother Sherlock making it the most personal case for Enola.

Driving the cast returns Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes. On his side we find Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, Louis Partridge as Lord Tewkesbury and Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes. They are also part of the cast Himesh Patel, who plays Dr. John Watson, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster, already appeared in the previous chapter of the saga.
The third chapter also represents Philip Barantini’s debut in the franchise, scoring a step change over the first two films directed by Harry Bradbeer.

After solving the case of the workers of the match factory and unmasking a complex conspiracy, Enola had consolidated the relationship with Lord Tewkesbury, leaving new perspectives open for their future together.
Sherlock Holmes had also embarked on a new phase of his professional life, beginning his collaboration with Dr. John Watson. At the same time, Moriarty’s escape had left several narrative possibilities open, elements that could play an important role in the new chapter of the saga.
