Lucky is the new crime thriller with Anya Taylor-Joy, available on Apple TV since July 15. Based on Marissa Stapley’s bestseller novel, the miniseries was created by Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas, with Reese Witherspoon among executive producers through his Hello Sunshine production house.
The miniseries has seven episodes, tells the story of a woman who tried to leave behind the world of crime, but who finds herself forced to deal with her past when a millionaire blow takes an unexpected turn. The first two episodes debut on July 15, followed by a new appointment every week.
The first international reviews welcomed the series positively, especially applauding the interpretation of Anya Taylor-Joy and the rhythm of the story. The Guardian, for example, describes Lucky as a thriller full of action and twists, emphasizing the charism of the protagonist and the ability of the series to alternate tension, irony and spectacularity.
The miniseries is the adaptation of the novel Lucky, published in 2021 by Marissa Stapley and chosen as the title of the Reese’s Book Club. For the television transposition Apple has entrusted the project to Jonathan Tropper, already author of See and Warrior, keeping in the center the mix of thriller, action and family drama that characterizes the book.

Lucky Armstrong has grown up in a family of crooks and criminals, but for years he has abandoned that life in an attempt to build a different future. But when a millions of dollars hit goes wrong, the woman is forced to return to her old skills to survive.
Armed with the FBI and a powerful boss of organized crime, Lucky embarks on a desperate escape that will force her to face the ghosts of the past and the complicated relationship with her father, also ex-con.

Anya Taylor-Joy plays “Lucky” Armstrong, protagonist of the series and ex-husband on the run after a failed blow. The actress is also an executive producer of the project.
Beside her we find Drew Starkey as Cary, Lucky’s husband, Annette Bening as Priscilla, a ruthless organised crime boss, Timothy Olyphant in those of John Armstrong, the protagonist’s father, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, who plays FBI agent Billie Rand.
