The noise of new things by Paolo Genovese is the opening film of the twenty-first edition of the Film Festival in Rome, which will take place from 14 to 25 October 2026 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone. The film will be presented in the Grand Public section on the occasion of the inaugural ceremony of the Festival, conducted by DJ and television and radio host Ema Stokholma.

The noise of new things is a production Lotus Production, company Leone Film Group, with Rai Cinema in collaboration with Disney+ and in association with Vice Pictures. The film is produced by Raffaella Leone and Andrea Leone, associate producer Vice Pictures Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio. The film is taken from the homonymous novel written by Genovese himself.

Emanuela Fanelli, Claudia Pandolfi, Stefano Accorsi, Vittoria Puccini, Lino Musella, Edoardo Pesce, Claudio Santamaria make up the cast of the film shot between Rome and Milan that will then go out to the cinema shortly.

Il rumore delle cose nuove, la trama

In the film, three different and unknown couples have in common the cage that they have built in life – for fear of finding who knows what out there – and a dense reticulate that has relegated their feelings in a quiet and reassuring perimeter. As long as an unexpected event does not involve them all, forcing them to reorder heart and soul, to revise their existence and to throw everything that is perhaps too much.

Andrea makes the photographer and owes his life literally to nurse Andreina, but among them there are silences and shadows. Umberto is accustomed to drowning the pain in work and then pouring it on Alba who has now abandoned all his dreams. Ralph records sounds while Viola is an actress wearing masks also far from the stage. Mirko, a 10-year-old child brings chaos into their lives.

Il cast

The seven characters of the film are played by Emanuela Fanelli, Claudia Pandolfi, Vittoria Puccini, Stefano Accorsi, Lino Musella, Edoardo Pesce, Rolando Ravello, Claudio Santamaria. The film is written by Paolo Genovese.
