When the improbable becomes reality everything can go wonderfully well or amazingly badly. And fortunately the unlikely idea of Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady came wonderfully well. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is a fun spinoff, absurd, curious that you let watch. A TV series made to entertain fans of The Big Bang Theory but especially to have fun in making it, inventing increasingly absurd things that would have been impossible elsewhere.
Thanks to the support of Zak Penn, called by Lorre and Prady to help them in the most imaginative part between multiverses and space travel, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe takes the secondary characters of The Big Bang Theory and puts them at the center of a nerd adventure (in the most positive and affectionate sense possible). Who could have imagined that Stuart Bloom, anonymous owner of the comic shop where the protagonists of The Big Bang Theory were passing, could emerge from the shadow becoming protagonist? Not to mention Bert, Denise or Barry.
And here comes the genius shot of the authors, who wanted to dare pointing on a world of success like that of TBBT but distorting it and bringing the series to another side. Not by chance it is also the first series of this universe designed directly for streaming. An unpublished, science fiction comedy that starts from the idea that Stuart broke a machine created by Sheldon and Leonard causing the breaking of the multiverse border and is therefore the only one able to save the universe. But will he?
This innovative mode does not make Stuart Fails to Save the Universe only an original and unique comedy, which plays with the flaws of its protagonists to exalt them and make them comedy. But above all it makes it the only possible vehicle for TBBT guest stars. Without spoiler fans will be satisfied to find some of the beloved characters but in completely different clothes than those with whom we knew them. Beyond the fact that an alternative spinoff was unimaginable because it would want to involve the historical protagonists and play already seen patterns, without going to do a prequel on Leonard or the young Penny.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe allows authors to continue to play with ways to make laugh, passing from the multicamera between friends of The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon’s single-family camera, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’s old-fashioned multi-camera, reaching a sci-fi comedy that enjoys comics, with those who have always read them and with TV genres. Week after week, alternating bets from 15, 18, 25 minutes, spectators will be dragged into the world of Stuart and his deceased and unlikely team and will be in front of a final that will leave them speechless waiting for season 2.
