Ted Lasso is back. After having seen the first four episodes of Ted Lasso 4 premiered (we remember that the series after the debut of August 5 will continue with weekly release until October 7) the feeling is that it is a return of the desire to lightness. But these first four episodes, each with a duration greater than 40 minutes, are a real comedy, mostly surreal because even more than in its first version, most of the situations appear unrealistic.

At the bottom of Ted Lasso’s style is this, which is also the same as Bill Lawrence’s always Shriking, written with Brett Goldstein, dealing with an ideal world in which you can insert your positive and optimistic morality in the face of the difficulties of life. The characters are always exaggerated, excessive in the way of speaking and in their actions, because they must be easily recognizable and identifiable.
A style that in the long run is exasperating mainly because Ted Lasso is not a fast comedy multi-camera in which the events are always different, but a series with its development and a horizontal plot.
Ted Lasso has always lived in an ideal world from the outlines of the fairy tale and to be successful was the contrast with deeply human and psychologically impacting emotions of his characters.
A depth that dug beyond the surface of these characters of which we only saw the facade they wanted to show. In the first episodes of the fourth season this break was not, but it is easy to imagine that it did not turn into a pure comedy with 40 minutes bets, but that it is simply preparing the ground for new collapses.
Il comfort show
Because at the bottom of Ted Lasso is this, a comfort show, a feel good show that does well to the heart, widens the spirit, does not provoke but indulges the viewer, brings him into his world to cuddle him and make him feel cared for. Beyond Tanya Reynolds, a female team collaborator, the new characters have not yet been deepened in these first episodes.
