Las Azules, this is what awaits us in the second season

The Mexican crime series Las Azules (Women in Blue) returns with a second season that continues the story of the first women who entered the police corps of Mexico City. The new episodes debut on Apple TV from August 12, with an episode a week until September 30, for a total of eight episodes.

Created by Fernando Rovzar and Pablo Aramendi, the series combines the investigative account with the reconstruction of one of the most complex pages of contemporary Mexico’s history, following four policemen committed to making their way into an environment dominated by men and marked by corruption.

La trama della seconda stagione

After the first season events, María was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. His new position, however, confronts her with a difficult conflict between respect for rules and the search for truth when the body of a young activist student is found.

The investigation soon led the Azules to dig into the 1968 student massacre, one of the most dramatic episodes of Mexican history. When a person linked to those facts is assassinated, it becomes evident that someone is trying to do justice by directly hitting those who, at the time, were involved in events.

While the department is shocked by the murders and increases pressure to identify the responsible, María and his colleagues will face not only the serial killer, but also the contradictions of a system in which corruption, abuse of power and hidden truth continue to influence the present.

Il cast

The protagonists of the first season are back:

Bárbara Mori plays María.
Ximena Sariñana is Angel.
Natalia Téllez plays Valentina.
Amorita Rasgado is Gabina.

Miguel Rodarte, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Christian Tappan, Horacio García Rojas and Bruno Bichir return to the cast.

Una crime story ispirata alla storia del Messico

Set in the 1970s, Las Azules tells the birth of the first female unit of Mexico City Police. If in the first season the protagonists had to conquer the respect of their colleagues demonstrating their value on the field, the new episodes broaden the story by intertwining the criminal investigation with the consequences of the massacre of Tlatelolco in 1968, a really happened event that continues to represent an open wound in the history of the country.
