MGM+ has released the official trailer of A Tale of Two Cities (Racconto di due città), starring Kit Harington, François Civil and Mirren Mack, who will arrive in autumn.
A rich English cast consists of the ensemble of adaptation from Charles Dickens’s story: Kit Harington (Industry, The Throne of Spades), François Civil (The love I have, The Three Musketeers) and Mirren Mack (Miss Austen, Hedda). The series is written by Daniel West (Gunpowder, Top Boy) and directed by Richard Clark (Outlander).
The miniseries will debut in Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands.
A Tale of Two Cities is produced by Federation Stories, co-production with Federation Studio France and Thriker Films, for MGM+ and BBC. The executive producers are Polly Williams, Léo Becker, Sarah Best, Kit Harington, Daniel West and Hong Khaou. The series is created and written by Daniel West, produced by Simon Meyers (I May Destroy You) and directed by Richard Clark. The series is distributed by Federation International.
A Tale of Two Cities, la trama
London, 1782. Tensions are high in the war between France and Britain. A young woman, Lucie Manette (Mirren Mack), sees her life twisted when she receives a message from Paris: her father, considered dead for almost 20 years, could be alive. The messenger — a French emigrant idealist, Charles Darnay (François Civil) — is arrested and charged with treason. Lucie asks for the help of a brilliant but eccentric young lawyer, Sydney Carton (Kit Harington), to free Darnay in the hope that he will lead her to Paris to find his father.
The meeting of Lucie with Darnay and Carton triggers a powerful and complex love triangle. Both men struggle to be worthy of his love and Lucie is fought on whom to choose. However neither of the two men — physically so similar, but spiritually to the antipods — can escape from the other. On the other hand, they will find themselves tied with double thread in life and death, among triumphs, tragedies, marriages and murders.
