Jackson Lamb and his deceased spies are ready to return. The sixth season of Slow Horses, one of the best TV series of recent years, a thrilling and tense thriller built around the sarcastic cynicism of his protagonist magnificently interpreted by Gary Oldman, will debut on Apple TV on September 16, as always with weekly release of the 6 episodes.
The trailer not only anticipated the theme at the center of the new season but showed a horny surprise: the return of Olivia Cook in the role of Sidonie “Sid” Baker. The character had been given dead after being hit the head in the second season, leaving the series and suggesting that his story was now over. That “Hello River” said by Sid shook the audience. Interestingly, Apple’s choice to promote the return directly to the trailer using it as an attractive element of the bets rather than leaving surprise to the viewer.
The return is not only an expedient created for the series: Sid is also featured in Mick Herron’s novels on which the sixth season is based. Cooke told us that over the years he received signals on the possibility of returning, but without knowing whether and when the project would become concrete. His scenes were filmed in a period of about five weeks, keeping the return as confidential as possible.

The fifth season ended with the Slow Horses committed to stopping a terrorist threat linked to Libya, ignoring the operation and saving Claude Whelan. Thanks to a hidden recording, Lamb gets precise guarantees, saves Slough House and replenishes Molly and Roddy Ho, River decides to stay despite being proposed to return to the headquarters.
The last part of the season also leaves an important question about Lamb’s past. The final sequence shows the scars on his feet, after that during the season he had told a story set at the time of the Stasi, in which a British agent had been tortured by burning his feet.

The sixth season was inspired by Joe Country and Slough House, the sixth and seventh saga novel dedicated to Slough House agents. TV adaptation is signed by executive co-producer Gaby Chiappe, while Adam Randall returns to directing. The series is produced for Apple TV by See-Saw Films.
