The Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center is about to reopen the doors. The Pitt returns with a third season that will maintain the characteristic format of the series, recounting once again a single work shift through the eyes of doctors and health professionals. The new season will debut in January 2027 on HBO Max with 15 episodes from the weekly release (which is always good and right) and will be again led by Noah Wyle, interpreter of Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch.
The first official teaser anticipates a new chapter set four months after the events of the second season, on a November day, characterized by Robby’s return. Production of the third season began on 16 June 2026. The series won 26 Emmy nominations for the second season (the awards will be awarded in September); the first season received 4 Emmys (including Best Drama) and two Golden Globes.
Dove eravamo rimasti – spoiler sulla seconda stagione
The second season ended on 4 July, leaving Robby in front of an important decision. After addressing once again the weight of trauma accumulated over the years, the doctor had planned a three-month sabbatical period. In the final, after a confrontation with Abbot, Robby finally seemed willing to stop and take time for himself. Before leaving, however, he visited the abandoned newborn that the staff had nicknamed Jane Doe, holding her in her arms and telling her that she was abandoned as a child.
Another of the nodes left open concerns Baran Al-Hashimi. Robby had discovered that the doctor suffered from a convulsive disorder and the matter had questioned his chance to continue working in the emergency room, but in the third season the character of Sepideh Moafi will be there. The season ended with the farewell to Samira Mohan: the character played by Supriya Ganesh had confided Robby to be evaluating a fellowship in geriatrics and will not return as part of the cast of the third season.
The series obtained 26 Emmy nominations for the second season, confirming itself as one of the most recognized titles of American television. The success had already led HBO Max to renew the series for a third season before the debut of the second, in January 2026.
Cosa sappiamo della terza stagione
The new season will be set in November after the events of 4 July, then about four months after the second chapter. The teaser shows Robby’s return to Pitt after the time away from the hospital. The theme of the season also seems to be the way the doctor will address his/her relationship with work after recognizing how much the weight of the experiences he/she has experienced began to consume it. Executive producer R. Scott Gemmill summarized the character’s path with the theme “Physician, heal thyself”, suggesting that this time Robby will also have to deal with his own health and balance.
Il cast
Noah Wyle returns to the role of Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch. With him we find Patrick Ball (Dr. Frank Langdon), Katherine LaNasa (Dana Evans), Fiona Dourif (Dr. Cassie McKay), Taylor Dearden (Dr. Melissa King), Isa Briones (Dr. Trinity Santos), Gerran Howell (Dennis Whitaker), Shabana Azeez (Victoria Javadi) and Shawn Hatosy (Dr. Jack Abbot).
Sepideh Moafi returns as Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi. A novelty is instead represented by Ayesha Harris, who switches to regular of the series as Dr. Parker Ellis.
The most important absence is that of Supriya Ganesh, who will not return as Dr. Mohan. The change is consistent with the nature of the series, which also follows the natural replacement of staff within a university hospital.
