After his release on Peacock on 9 April, The Miniature Wife arrives from 9 June on Sky and NOW in Italy, with the addition of the subtitle A small problem. Generally appreciated by American critics especially for the performances of the two protagonists Matthew Macfadyen and Elizabeth Banks, the TV series has served the semi-imlevance of a platform like Peacock in the USA and the serial overbooking of this period that always makes it very difficult to stand out.
The dramedy series in ten episodes, is based on the short story of Manuel Gonzalez, adapted by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner also showrunner; Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen are also executive producers, along with Michael Aguilar, Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer. Greg Mottola is director of the first and last two episodes, Bertie Ellwood, Fernando Frias and Miguel Arteta are other directors.
The Miniature Wife, la trama
In the middle there is the couple formed by Lindy (Banks) and Les (Macfadyen) Littlejohn: she is a Pulitzer Prize writer who, after the horrific success of her debut novel, finds herself stuck in a creative crisis that lasts for 18 years; he is a scientist obsessed with glory, to realize his greatest scientific discovery in an attempt to solve hunger in the world. However, years of ego clashes, a change in the economic balances of the couple and a total lack of communication brought their marriage to the brink of collapse. When a laboratory incident reduces Lindy to only 15 cm tall, the already fragile balance of power in their marriage explodes in an exhilarating and scratching battle between pride, resentment and love.
