The Last Sunrise – The summer of the first time on Prime Video: plot and cast of the romantic film

A summer in Majorca, an unexpected love and the need to decide whether to continue to live thinking about the future or finally start enjoying the present, are these elements in the center of The Last Sunrise – The summer of the first times, new romantic movie of Prime Video with Maia Reficco, Fernando Lindez and Eva Longoria. Directed by Carlson Young available on 26 August 2026.

The title is derived from the homonymous novel by Anna Todd of 2025, author who became famous especially thanks to the saga of After. The script is signed by Anna Klassen, while Todd is also involved in the production of the film. The adaptation is not limited to transferring the history of the book on the screen, according to the production, some changes have been made to make the story more suitable for the film format, but maintaining the core of the story and the path of Ry. At the end of summer Prime Video so returns on that plot of the romantic, seductive, provocative and provocative YA that they are cheating on the public.

La trama

Ry, a 22-year-old American university student, lives with a chronic illness (ah how many were films like this) that ended up conditioning the way he looks at his life. During the summer he departed for Majorca along with his mother Isolde, interpreted by Eva Longoria, a very protective woman who built much of her relationship with her daughter around the need to take care of her.

The arrival on the island opens an unexpected possibility. Ry knows Julián, a local boy portrayed by Fernando Lindez, and between the two a link quickly arises that leads the protagonist to live experiences that until then had avoided or postponed.

Summer therefore seems to become an opportunity to recover a time that Ry feels she has lost, but the situation gets complicated when her health conditions worsen and some family secrets remained hidden for years come to light. Ry finds himself thus having to choose from what he wants, the expectations of his family and the future that everyone seems to have already imagined for her.

Maia Reficco, Fernando Lindez ed Eva Longoria, il cast

The film revolves around three main characters. Maia Reficco interprets Ry, a young woman who seeks for the first time to make decisions without letting her health define every aspect of her existence.

Fernando Lindez dresses up Julián, the boy from Majorca who enters Ry’s life during the summer, the Spanish actor is already known for SKAM España and Élite. Eva Longoria plays Isolde, Ry’s mother. The cast also includes Sabrina Bartlett, Chloé Sweetlove and Andrés Vlistso, as well as Molly B. Thomas and other interpreters.

Maiorca al centro della storia

Ambientation is not only the background of love history. The filming was made in Majorca, also at Sa Fortaleza de Pollença, and the landscape of the island becomes an integral part of the summer story of Ry and Julián.

The contrast between the beauty and lightness of the holiday and the difficulties Ry brings with him contributes to defining the tone of the film, the summer represents for the protagonist a temporary space in which to try to live without letting any choice be determined by what could happen tomorrow. One of the central aspects of history is Ry’s relationship with his health condition. The film uses chronic illness as a concrete element of the life of the protagonist, but its path mainly concerns autonomy, love and ability to choose for itself.

The meeting with Julián thus becomes a part of a wider change, Ry must understand how much of his life has been decided to protect it and how much, instead, he finally wants to decide alone. It is a theme that was already present in the novel and that the film brings to the center of history together with the romantic component.
