For Maia Marten, a successful London and single mother, a normal morning race becomes the beginning of a day when every decision can have deadly consequences. The Runner, a new psychological action thriller with Gal Gadot, arrives today, September 2, 2026, on Prime Video. The film is directed by Kevin Macdonald and lasts 84 minutes.
The film is all built on the distance between Maia and her mysterious interlocutor, with telephone conversations that accompany the movement of the protagonist in the streets of the British capital. One of the central elements of the film is the pressure exerted by time, Maia cannot stop and plan her strategy calmly, she must continue to move through the city while receiving new orders. La trama
Maia Marten has built her career in the competitive London legal world. One morning like many others after having accompanied the son to school, he comes out for his usual morning race. But during that journey he receives a call that completely changes his day, his son was kidnapped.
The man on the other side of the call gives her precise instructions, Maia must continue to move, execute every order and above all not turn to the police or tell anyone what is happening. If he stops, his son is likely to die. The race through London thus becomes a sequence of increasingly dangerous tests, Maia must obey the demands of her interlocutor while simultaneously trying to understand who organized the abduction and why she chose her own.
