A story of passion, sacrifice and family relations set in the adrenaline world of MotoGP, Idoli – Until the last race was released by Warner Bros. Pictures. and directed by Mat Whitecross, shot between Spain and Italy including the circuit of Misano in Imola. In the background of the MotoGP universe, the film recounts a challenge that goes beyond sports competition, transforming itself into a personal growth path made of ambition, errors and search for its own identity.
Protagonist is Claudio Santamaria as Antonio Belardi, a former motorcyclist marked by the traumas of the past who decides to train his son Edu, interpreted by Óscar Casas, a young talent determined to make his way into the racing world. In the cast also Ana Mena, who dresses the shoes of Luna, a young artist whose arrival in the life of Edu will end up questioning balances and certainties built inside and outside the track, and Saul Nanni in the role of the antagonist. Between training, ambitions and personal choices, father and son will be called to confront with increasingly difficult expectations to support.
Trama
Edu is a particularly aggressive young motorcycling pilot that no team trusts. Eli, the leading team of the Aspar Team in Moto2, offers him an opportunity provided that both his father, Antonio Belardi, will train him. Edu has not seen his father for many years, a former driver who retired from the slopes after causing another driver’s death during a race. Although Edu hates his father for abandoning him, he knows that only he can help him realize his dream.
Edu then decides to undergo the strict discipline that Antonio imposes on him, which includes, among other things, putting aside love… Until he meets Luna, a young artist who has just opened a tattoo studio right under his house.
