South Park returns to Comedy Central on Friday, September 18 at 22 with the new season, which in Italy arrives a few days from the American debut. The first episode is The Biker Gangs of South America and brings in the series one of the provocations that accompanied the launch of the new season: in response to Trump South Park was renamed South America.
The finding takes inspiration from the recent decisions of the Trump administration on the denomination of some geographical places in the United States. After changing the name of Lake Ontario to “Lake America” on maps for US users of Google and Apple, Trey Parker and Matt Stone have sarcasically announced they want to change the name of the series in South America. The relationship between South Park and Trump has become particularly explicit in recent seasons. In 2025 the series had already dedicated several stories to the president and his administration, including the première of the season 27, in which Trump was represented together with Satan. The episode came while the president was engaged in a $5 billion suit against Paramount, which the series used as satirical material.
But the controversy is not only linked to the content of the episodes. Parker and Stone have included in their statement on the name change an arrow to the same Paramount, owner of Comedy Central, defining the company a “Skydance Capitulation”.

In the first episode e-bikes arrive in South America and quickly conquer the streets of the city. The boys start using them, while the adults react forming a sort of gang of cyclists and trying to bring back the order.
The story thus becomes a new opportunity to target the cultural war and disproportionate reactions of adults in front of a seemingly trivial change. The center is Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny, while the new name of the city becomes one of the torments of the episode.
The political reference becomes even more evident in the renewed theme, which presents the city as South America, and in the appearance of an animated version of Trump. The satire is not built exclusively around the president: Parker and Stone also target the way large technological companies have transposed the name change on their maps.

The return comes after a new important recognition for the series. In 2026 South Park won its sixth Primetime Emmy in the Outstanding Animated Program category. The series was also included in the Television Academy Honors 2026, becoming the first animated series to receive this award.
Throughout his history he also received awards from AFI, Peabody Awards and Critics Choice Association. The series also approached the goal of thirty years since its debut in 1997.
