Veleno on Sky Crime since 21 September: Pablo Trincia returns to the case of the Diavoli della Bassa Modenese

The case of the so-called Low Modenese devils returns to Sky with Veleno, the docuserie inspired by the podcast and the book by Pablo Trincia. The docuserie debuts on Monday 21 September at 22 pm on Sky Crime and will also be available on demand and streaming on NOW. The production, made by Fremantle, consists of five episodes.

The story dates back to the end of the nineties, when the statements of some children gave rise to an investigation destined to divide a community and become one of the most discussed judicial cases of the Italian chronicle.

Il caso dei Diavoli della Bassa modenese

Between 1997 and 1998, in the territories of Mirandola, Finale Emilia and Massa Finalese, some children told episodes of abuse and alleged satanic rituals. The investigation led to the removal of numerous minors from their families and judicial proceedings against several people. In the following years, the story was the subject of different processes, convictions, assolutions and reconstructions. The contradictions that emerged over time are at the centre of Trincia’s work, which through the podcast Veleno, published in 2017, had brought attention to the case. And that podcast had somehow opened the doors to the spread of the medium in Italy.

The docuserie uses interviews, archive materials and field reports to retrace the investigation and its consequences, looking both at the cases but above all the way the investigations were made and the impact they had on children, families and the whole community. The case is particularly complex because, after years, the testimonies and judicial results have produced different reconstructions. The series then returns to the people involved and questions left open, following the evolution of the story even after the conclusion of the main proceedings.

Dal podcast al libro e alla televisione

Veleno was born from the journalistic work of Pablo Trincia and Alessia Rafanelli. The podcast later became a book, Veleno. A true story, published by Einaudi in 2019. The story had already arrived on television in 2021 with a docuserie of the same name produced by Fremantle. The new production starts from a story already known by the public of Trincia, proposing a new reconstruction through the language of the docuserie.

Quando vedere Veleno su Sky

Veleno debuted on Monday, September 21, at 22 on Sky Crime. The five episodes will be broadcast weekly and will also be available on demand and streaming on NOW.
