A 50-year-old divorced woman, an almost adult child, older parents to take care of and want to return to live her love life, this is Youth, the new comedy of HBO and with Sharon Horgan in Italy at the same time with the USA since September 21. Eight episodes make up the first season that will end on November 2 (in the USA goes on Sunday the dissection is tied to the evening broadcast).
La trama di Youth
At the heart of the story is Alex, a fifty-year-old divorced Londoner who works as a literary agent. His life is divided between work, his son Ruari, now close to university age, and the elderly parents who need his attention. Alex is thus in the so-called “ sandwich generation”, that adult band that simultaneously deals with their children and parents who grow old. In the midst of family responsibilities, however, the protagonist wants to recover a personal space and understand what he really wants from the second part of his life.
The research also concerns sex, appointments and love. After the divorce, Alex tries in fact to get back into play sentimentally, comparing himself with different men and with the insecurities related to age, body and the idea of being still desired. The Youth title plays on this contrast.
Il cast
Sharon Horgan plays Alex and is also the main author of the project. In the cast there are also Rupert Friend as Patrick, Sharlene Whyte as Sam, Aran Murphy as Ruari and Robbie Gee as Frank.
