Beast review: The film with Russell Crowe is a linear story between MMA and ransom

Beast is a 2026 Australian film written by Russell Crowe and David Frigerio, with the first who has cut out a perfect role, released in April this year between USA and Australia and cinema from October 1 in Italy. Suitable for MMA lovers, those who do not disdain free scazzottate and dating to the latest blood, a linear action film, predictable and loaded with simple emotions so there is little to be thinking about. Beast is a simple film that works, definitely more suited to a TV evening between streaming, pay, light channels, rather than cinema.

Beast, una storia lineare

Beast has a particularly linear performance and for this appreciable. He knows what he is and what he wants to bring to the public, he seeks nothing else, once established his own narrative platform proceeds without particular leashes towards a predictable and reassuring epilogue. Patton James is a successful MMA fighter, 10 years later he works on fishing vessels and has the reputation of being a bit ejector. He has a wife and a son but he struggles to keep up with the splendor of the past. He has long left the cage, cutting the bridges with everyone from his brother who followed his footsteps to coach Sammy. When his brother ends up in a coma during a meeting with American Xavier Grau, the mephistopheric agent of the latter offers Patton a disproportionate figure to return to a final challenge.

Vendette, rivalry, tensions are the elements of Beast, along with many more or less legal blows. The MMA cage is not a sport suitable for everyone, legalized and organized fight meetings where the risk is always around the corner. As well as satisfaction and glory for the winners. Beast is a film on the sense of redemption and rivalry, on the way out of difficulties, on the strength of will, on family love that prevails over everything. The actors perform their task in the best possible ways, Russell Crowe studied the perfect role of the wise old coach from the hard shard but from the tender interior.

It is not an unforgettable film, it is similar to many others for structures and themes, it will hardly be able to stand out among the many exits to the cinema and will have a second life between streaming and TV.
