From November 10, the fifth and last season of Babylon Berlin arrived on Sky and NOW. The series had a travailed route because in 2023 after the sale of Comcast of Sky Germany/Austria, Sky had actually cancelled the series. The production ARD Degeto, X Filme Creative Pool and Beta Film instead decided to move on thus completing the story. Inspired by the fifth novel Berlin Brucia, Volker Kutscher’s literary saga dedicated to Commissioner Rath, the series sees Germany falling into its darkest phase.
In the fifth season of Babylon Berlin we arrive in Berlin in January 1933, when the appointment of Adolf Hitler at Chancellor marks the beginning of the nightmare for Germany. Four years after the fourth season, production returns to tell a city crossed by crime, social tensions and political extremism, while democratic balances approach the breaking point.
Babylon Berlin 5, la trama: Charlotte indaga mentre Gereon scompare
The story begins on January 30, 1933, the day Hitler was appointed Chancellor of the Reich. In this climate of increasing instability, Charlotte Ritter is investigating a series of murders that strike former first-line soldiers. Following the clues, the detective goes back to events that sink the roots in 1918, at the end of World War I.
At the center of the investigation there is a missing file, containing information about the period spent by Hitler in the army during the conflict. The material may have significant political consequences and those involved in the affair seem willing to do everything to recover it, even to kill.
While Charlotte tries to rebuild links between the crimes and the document, Gereon Rath suddenly disappears without a trace. The woman does not know if she can find him and must continue her work in a city where hostile forces to democracy are gaining ground.
The season develops over five weeks, from the appointment of Hitler to the day of the elections, passing through the Reichstag fire. The personal story of the protagonists is intertwined with events that would mark German and European history.

Babylon Berlin’s fifth and final season debuted on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 exclusively on Sky and streamed only on NOW. The eight episodes will be distributed at the rate of two a week.
