Nobody Wants This 3 review: a better season than the previous one who knows so much about the final

Third season for Nobody Wants This on Netflix from Thursday 22 October. A year after the disappointing second season, the romantic stories of Rabbi Noah and his girlfriend ready to convert Joanne and the TV series created by Erin Foster resurrected a little, without returning to the good first season, but finding a balance in a choral rom-com formula overcoming all the confrontation/against religion. Of course Kristen Bell and Adam Brody are at the center of the story and still embody the strength of the series, but both Justine Lupe (Morgan) and Timothy Simons (Sasha) are not to be underestimated.

Nobody Wants this 3, da dove si riparte

The third season of Nobody Wants This departs from the desire of Noah and Joanne to try to carry out this relationship, without fears and with Joanne’s desire to become seriously in order to become the “wife” of the rabbi. The two face the cohabitation with all the complications of the case, between habits to be adapted to the rhythms of life to be synchronized. Sasha and Esther try to refute in the world of appointments, between embarrassment and unlikely appointments while after a podcast episode, Morgan becomes an almost web celebrity. In the midst of all this Morgan and Sasha have to deal with their relationship and a situation never really defined.

La ricerca della normalità

Like his two protagonists, Noah and Joanne, Nobody Wants This is also looking for normality, a balance that can make it go beyond the pretext of the religious difference of the main characters. The second season was lost in limbo, he did not know where to go, trying to follow the scheme of the first episodes slowing the evolution of the story. In these new 10 episodes Nobody Wants This totally embraces the idea of being a Roma-com without too much limestone the hand on religious aspects, now become normal. Yet the series still seems to be afraid of its transformation into a simple rom-com looking for solutions that seem to be forced, creating situations that appear too extreme or exaggerated.

Everything is too excessive and emotional in Nobody Wants This, everything is at the limit of the caricature and every character that is added to the series, is impalpable and too linked to its existence compared to the central core of protagonists. Without the characteristic thrust of the contrast between a person and a religious family and a woman with the respective atheist family, the series focuses on the individual characters and is forced to extinguish every feature. In addition, each character seems to live in a Californian luxury bubble, without a definite source of income, a typical element of contemporary fairy tales.

But the power of love is the central element of this season, and every little one among the two protagonists, is quickly liquidated because it is the love that must prevail. Better let the other characters complicate their lives. However, this makes their stories more interesting than the sweetened central core closer to the Harmony TV8 months preceding Valentine’s Day.

Also for this, without making any spoilers, the final of the third season is practically perfect as a series finale. Even without having officially declared it, Erin Foster built this third season as the closure of the ideal circle of history that began with the first season. Of course, being fully a choral rom-com, the series could quietly move forward, but the feeling of a closing is clearly evident by looking at the last episode. And it’s all right.
