Redux Redux is the film on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at 21.20 on Rai 4, in the first TV viewing, a science fiction thriller, directed by brothers Kevin and Matthew McManus who opens the marathon dedicated to the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, which returns to Trieste from 3 to 8 November with its 26th edition. Redux Redux won the Wonderland Prize at the festival in 2025.
The film was presented in 2025 at the South by Southwest festival, in the Midnighter section, before arriving in U.S. theatres in February 2026, written and directed by Kevin and Matthew McManus is an independent American production by Mothership Motion Pictures. On Rotten Tomatoes, professional reviews record a positive rating of 97%; also Metacritic reports generally favourable ratings. Among the aspects underlined in the reviews are the ability of directors to hold together the sci-fi and the most intimate dimension of history, although with some reservations on the development of certain narrative elements.
La trama di Redux Redux
Irene Kelly is a mother who lost her daughter, murdered by a man named Neville. Unable to accept his death, he decides to cross parallel universes to reach the killer and kill him, repeating revenge in reality different.
Thanks to a device that allows you to move from one dimension to another, Irene finds every time a version of the same scenario and completes her mission. What initially seems like a way to face mourning gradually turns into obsession: the woman continues to chase Neville, while the repetition of the murders puts her own humanity at risk.
His path changes when he meets Mia, a teenager who comes into contact with the protagonist during the hunt for the killer. The relationship between the two introduces a new perspective in Irene’s life, forced to question the consequences of her research and the boundary between justice and revenge.
The multiverse thus becomes the narrative instrument through which the film faces pain for a loss, obsession and the possibility of interrupting a cycle of violence. Each new reality offers Irene another opportunity to strike the man responsible for the death of her daughter, but does not erase what happened or the consequences of her actions.
