Citadel, the second season seems a reboot attempt and arrives in May on Prime Video

Will Prime Video save Citadel’s wheelchair? The TV series born with the best intentions, with an idea on the paper very interesting but that is shipwrecked between bad criticism and so much money spent. Because of the global and reticular nature of Amazon, making a series of TV action from the international system from which to create local, separate but connected spinoffs seemed really interesting. Too bad that in an attempt to please everyone ended up with a fairly conventional action, full of clichè and that gave the feeling of being too much worked, as if they were pieces built not by chance the processing was particularly long.

And also for this second season the processing was long, since a year ago, in April 2025 news of the cancellation of its spinoff series Honey Bunny (Indiana) and Diana (Italian), paradoxically better and more consistent than the original, and at the same time it was said that the second season of Citadel was in post-production and would be out in spring 2026. And so on May 6, all 7 episodes of the second season will be released.

Citadel 2, la trama

The feeling also looking at the trailer, is that an attempt was made to reboot by bringing together some elements of the spinoffs in the second season of Citadel but above all trying to reconstruct the original idea of global action. Mason Kane (Richard Madden), Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) and Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci), selected agents of a legendary intelligence agency destroyed by Manticore, but will be looking for a new team. New experienced agents and embark on a global mission to stop a conspiracy that could change the face of humanity.

Il cast

In addition to Stanley Tucci, Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas among the actors who return this season are Lesley Manville and Ashleigh Cummings, flanked by a larger cast that includes Jack Reynor as Hutch, Matt Berry as Franke Sharpe and Lina El Arabi as Celine. Among other new additions worthy of note are Merle Dandridge, Gabriel Leone and Rayna Vallandingham.

Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and AGBO of the Russian Brothers, Citadel sees Anthony Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot and Scott Nemes as executive procuder for AGBO, along with showrunner and director David Weil. Joe Russo and Greg Yaitanes are directors and executive producer of the series.
