It was one of the first indiscretions published on the cast of The White Lotus 4 but in the end Helena Bonham Carter will not be part of the new season. Despite filming just started in Cannes, HBO released a note explaining that the actress would no longer be part of the cast: “While filming was starting, it appeared clear that Mike White’s character had created for Helena Bonham Carter was not consistent with the rest. The role has therefore been reconsidered, the rewriting is in progress and a recast will take place shortly. Both HBO and Mike White are sad to not be able to work with her and hope to be able to do so soon.”.

According to deadline after shooting the first scenes White realized that the character he initially imagined was not how it should be.
