Here Rido I the film by Mario Martone dedicated to Eduardo Scarpetta and his theater, aired tonight on TV Sunday 10 May from 21:15 about on Rai 5 and RaiPlay streaming. Released in theatres in September 2021, the film was presented at the Venice Film Festival. He won the David of Donatello for the best non-star actor at Eduardo Scarpetta and for costumes, also won direction and screenplay with Mario Martone at the Silver Ribbons. Here Rido has collected 1.6 million euros.
Qui Rido Io la trama
The plot of Qui Rido Io brings us back to the beginning of the ‘900 in Naples. The great comic actor Eduardo Scarpetta is the king of the box office. Success has made him a very rich man: of humble origins he has asserted thanks to his comedies and the mask of Felice Sciosciammocca that in the heart of the Neapolitan public has replaced Pulcinella.
The theatre is its life and around the theatre also gravitates all its complex family nucleus, consisting of wives, companions, lovers, legitimate children and illegitimates including Titina, Eduardo and Peppino De Filippo. At the height of the success Scarpetta is given what will prove to be dangerous. He decides to make the parody of The daughter of Iorio, tragedy of the greatest Italian poet of the time, Gabriele D’Annunzio. On the evening of the debut in the theater a putiferous is unleashed: the comedy is interrupted between screams, whistles and insults raised by the poets and dramatuges of the new generation crying to the scandal and Scarpetta ends with being denounced by plagiarism by the same D’Annunzio.
Thus begins the first historical cause on copyright in Italy. The years of the process will be worn out for him and for the whole family so much that the delicate balance he held together seems to be about to dissolve. Everything in Scarpetta’s life seems to be shattered, but with a large actor’s number he will be able to challenge the fate he wanted lost and win his last game.
