In Monroe, Tennessee, Hank Deerfield, an elderly warrior, receives a phone call that his son, just returned from Iraq after 18 months of service, disappeared from his base. Hank travels to Fort Rudd, New Mexico to find him. Within a day, the carbonized and dismembered body of his son is found on the outskirts of the city.
Deerfield imposes himself in the investigation, working primarily with a new detective, Emily Sanders. Was your son involved in a big smuggling of weapons? A drug deal gone wrong? Credit card receipts, photos and videos from Iraq may contain the key.
