A surprise news a week after the upfronts: ABC ordered a Grey’s Anatomy spinoff set in Texas and the title still to be unveiled. The series will debut in the 2027 midseason, likely that Grey’s Anatomy at this point has 15 bets with its 8/9-pointed spinoff that maybe will take over. They could throw a tail at the final and then continue with 911 and 911: Nashville. But they are all hypotheses to be verified and will be announced pursued.
Undoubtedly it surprises the choice not to present it to the upfront and to announce it so from nothing, without any indiscretion or voice launched also to tastare the opinion of the public. Shonda Rhimes and Ellen Pompeo will be producing with Meg Marinis, current showrunner of Grey’s Anatomy, who created the series with Rhimes (but it is not at the moment clear if Marinis will be both showrunners).
For the first time there will be no character of Grey’s Anatomy who will move into the new series, as it had happened with Private Practice with the transfer of Kate Walsh and Station 19 with Jason George and his Ben became a fireman. According to deadline to connect the two TV series could be the character of Debbie Allen Catherine Fox, probably the hospital will be part of her group. “New characters, new stories with the same ability to excite and conquer the audience. All in the state where I was born,” added Marinis.
No further details have been revealed on the plot probably the structure will be that of a medical soapy drama set in Texas. Shonda Rhimes will return to writing a episode of a series of the Grey’s Anatomy universe since the season 11 episode in which Derek died (Patrick Dempsey). Shondaland has been able to produce the TV series while having a contract with Netflix since 2017, as a spinoff or rather an offshoot of an existing series.
Now it is only necessary to monitor the USA news for the cast that will be chosen and for the title and the final plot. Curiously, CBS is also working on a medical drama with Jared Padalecki set in Texas.
