The Twisted Metal TV series, inspired by the homonymous Playstation video game saga, produced by Sony and distributed in the United States by Peacock in 2023, has arrived on Sky and NOW. In Italy the first season of this comedy-colored action with Anthony Mackie protagonist was distributed on Playstation – Sony Pictures Core for a limited period of time. In the meantime, in the USA the second season, always on Peacock, on 31 July 2025, in Italy is still unpublished and will arrive from 21 September on Sky and NOW.
The first season, available from 31 August on Sky Atlantic, NOW and on demand, consists of 10 bets from 30 minutes, the second from 12. The series was born from an original idea by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the creative duo behind hits such as Deadpool and Zombieland, who transformed the most recognizable elements of the video game, which has a car race at the centre, in an action comedy set in a post-apocalyptic world. The result is a post-apocalyptic road movie in which chases and battles between cars become part of a wider narrative.
La trama
The protagonist is John Doe, portrayed by Anthony Mackie, an outsider used to talk a lot but with a much more serious problem: he does not remember anything of his past. The opportunity to change life comes in the form of a seemingly simple mission, must cross a desolate post-apocalyptic America to deliver a mysterious package. In return he could get the chance to enter a safe place and leave behind the life he has always known.
The journey, of course, is far from simple. On board his vehicle John finds himself facing raiders, criminal gangs and other characters ready to survive. To accompany him there is Quiet, interpreted by Stephanie Beatriz, a skilled car thief who knows how to use weapons and has no particular interest in trusting strangers.
Among the most recognizable dangers is Sweet Tooth, the giant psychopathic clown driving a ice cream truck. The character, already iconic in the video game, becomes one of the most dangerous opponents that John and Quiet meet along the path.

The cast is Anthony Mackie, who plays John Doe. Next to him is Stephanie Beatriz in the role of Quiet. Thomas Haden Church, Will Arnett, Joe Seanoa, Neve Campbell, Richard Cabral, Mike Mitchell, Tahj Vaughans and Lou Beatty Jr.
Will Arnett and Joe Seanoa, also known as Samoa Joe, are also linked to the character of Sweet Tooth, the crazy clown who became one of the symbols of the saga. In the series the character is physically interpreted by Seanoa, while Arnett lends his voice.
