Liam Neeson is the protagonist of L’uomo dei ghiacci – The Ice Road, a 2021 action thriller directed by Jonathan Hensleigh and aired on Rai 2 Monday 21 September at 21:20. In the cast there is also Laurence Fishburne, for a story set in the extreme North of Canada that puts in the center a rescue mission against the time and the prohibitive conditions of the ice.
The film was released at the cinema in Italy in December 2021, where it collected little more than 400 thousand dollars according to the international collection data available with 7 million dollars worldwide. The criticism was quite cold: on Rotten Tomatoes he recorded 42% positive reviews of 90, with a judgment that recognizes Neeson the ability to support an action movie but considers history too predictable.
La trama
In northern Canada a diamond mine suddenly collapses, leaving several miners trapped underground. To reach them before it is too late it is necessary to quickly transport the necessary equipment to rescue through an ice road.
Driving the mission is called Mike McCann, an expert truck driver in driving on icy surfaces. Together with him, his brother Gurty, veteran Jim Goldenrod, and a young driver who knows well those extreme conditions. The group must cross a frozen lake by heavy means, while the arrival of spring makes the route increasingly unstable.
The danger does not come only from the ice. During the journey, elements emerge that behind the incident in the mine there may be something more complex than a simple collapse.
