The story of Carlo Acutis the saint of the internet, arrives on the small screen with a TV film that tells the years of adolescence, the relationship with faith and the way in which the young man has been able to relate to the people around him. My name is Carlo airs on Sunday, September 27, in the first evening on Canale 5, with Samuele Carrino in the role of Carlo and Lucia Mascino in that of his mother Antonia.
The director is Giacomo Campiotti, who also signs the subject and the script together with Carlo Mazzotta. The film is a RTI co-production – Movie Magic International and was created with the collaboration of Carlo Acutis’ parents.

The film follows Carlo Acutis from childhood to the last days of his life. At fifteen years of age he is a passionate boy of computer science, video games and football, but also deeply linked to the faith, during his growth he develops a particular attention to people in difficulty and to those living situations of marginalization.
The story also shows the relationship with Rajesh, the immigrant young woman welcomed in the Acutis house, and with the family, Carlo manages to leave a mark in the people he meets, while the parents Antonia and Andrea compare with a son able to show them a different way of living love and relationship with others. An important role in the story is also represented by technology. Carlo understands the possibilities offered by the Internet and tries to use it as a tool to spread his faith and create a community that can exceed distances.
The story then arrives at the disease that interrupts Charles’ life at only fifteen years. A shining leukemia suddenly changes the course of its existence, but the film also focuses attention on the way it faces that period, maintaining the serenity that characterizes the character. The narrative is thus concentrated not only on the last days of the young man, but also on the legacy left by his path and the relationship established with the people who have known him.

To play Carlo Acutis is Samuele Carrino, while Lucia Mascino dresses her mother Antonia. In the cast there are also Brayan Palliyagoda in the role of Rajesh, Nicky Passarella in that of Sofia, Maurizio Donadoni as the parish priest and Flavio Parenti in the role of Charles’ father.

The canonization of Carlo Acutis also aroused some public discussions, in particular on the miracles recognized in the path that led to the proclamation as a saint. Her mother Antonia Salzano Acutis recently responded to the criticisms of those who questioned the process, rejecting the hypothesis that the family would play a role in achieving miracles. “The miracles are not bought”, he said, recalling that those officially recognized in the path were two.
The first concerns Matheus, a Brazilian child suffering from severe congenital malformation of the pancreas. After touching a relic of Charles during a religious celebration in Campo Grande, the child would manifest a complete healing of the pathology, then recognized by the Church in the path that led to beatification in 2020.
The second case concerns Valeria, a young student from Costa Rica who lived in Florence. In 2022 she had been severely injured after a bicycle fall, reporting a cranial trauma with conditions initially considered extremely critical. The mother went to Assisi to pray on the tomb of Carlo Acutis and, on the same day, from the hospital came the news of a sudden improvement of the girl, who had resumed breathing spontaneously. The case was recognized as a miracle in 2024 and opened the way to canonization.
