An international summit turns into a terrorist assault and the president of the United States finds himself fighting to save his family and world leaders. It is the situation at the center of G20, action thriller of 2025 directed by Patricia Riggen, with Viola Davis as President Danielle Sutton and Antony Starr, the Patriot of The Boys, in the role of the main antagonist, in the cast also Sabrina Impacciatore. The film was released by Prime Video and arrives on Monday 19 October 2026 in the first evening on Italy 1, in the first television viewing.
G20, la trama del film
Danielle Sutton, president of the United States with a past in the army, reaches Cape Town, South Africa, to participate in the G20 summit together with her husband Derek and her children. The appointment brings together the leaders of the world’s leading economies and should be an opportunity to discuss financial issues and international agreements. During the inaugural dinner, however, a group of mercenaries storms the structure that hosts the event and seizes political representatives.
Rutledge, a former military officer who organized a plan to enrich himself by exploiting the crisis and manipulating financial markets. Danielle manages to avoid catching and has to put in place the skills acquired during the military service to face attackers. With the help of Secret Service Agent Manny Ruiz, the president tries to reach his family and free the hostages, while the fate of the summit and international security become increasingly uncertain.
The attack is not limited to the seizure of world leaders: the criminal plan also aims to exploit technology and disinformation to influence markets. The president thus becomes a central figure in the operation, because his statements could be used to fuel financial panic. To stop Rutledge, Danielle will have to be able to protect his loved ones and prevent the assault from causing consequences far beyond the hotel where the summit takes place.
