Tonight on TV Wednesday 21 October 2026 on Sky and NOW arrives at the Feast of the Revolution, historical thriller set in the period of the company of Rijeka by Gabriele D’Annunzio. Presented at the 20th Film Festival in Rome in the Grand Public section, it is freely inspired by the literary work of Claudia Salaris, published by Il Mulino. History is at a decisive moment for Italy, after the First World War, when the confrontation between revolution and dictatorship is intertwined with the crisis of European political balances.
Directed by Arnaldo Catinari, the film with Valentina Romani, Nicolas Maupas and Riccardo Scamarcio, interweaves an attack, an investigation and the personal events of three protagonists involved in the events related to the company of Gabriele D’Annunzio.
Alla Festa della Rivoluzione, la trama
In 1919, while Gabriele D’Annunzio started his visionary revolution in Rijeka, the city became the centre of a confrontation that goes beyond the local boundaries. Beatrice, a young and determined spy at the service of Russia, is located on the spot during the feast of settlement of the poet and man of war. On that occasion, however, an attack threatens the life of D’Annunzio and threatens the revolutionary project.
Finding out who is hiding behind the attack becomes a priority. Beatrice is there to protect the Poet-Guerriero, while Peter, at the head of the Italian secret services, must stand between his duty and the ideals in which he believes. Giulio, a doctor who defected during the Great War and who frequents anarchist environments, is added to them.
The investigation brings out a plot of political intrigues, private sale and impossible loves. The choices of the protagonists are thus reflected on the fate of Rijeka and the future of D’Annunzio, in an Italy that stands before a crossroads between revolution and dictatorship.

Reazioni tra pubblico e critica
The film was highly criticised on the writing level, although with positive observations on the visual impact and some aspects of the setting. For example, the Daily Fact, challenged the simplification of historical dynamics and character psychology, judging the story too close to the mechanisms of television seriality. Cinematograph also expressed reservations about the balance between historical reconstruction and romance. Overall, the film has divided reviewers especially for the way it chooses to tell a complex historical episode through the codes of thriller and melodrama. It lowers the audience’s feedback with the film that cashed just 191 thousand euros.
