Slow Horses is aired every Wednesday on Apple TV with the sixth season. The seventh and eighth was already shot, confirming the trust of the platform on the show. Based on the novels Joe Country and Slough House by Mick Herron, the new chapter confirms the “maturity” and the “chemistry” of the anti-spie team of the small screen.
The new episodes have a real surprise for fans. Multiple because, since former members of the Slough House are attacked, various known and loved faces of the TV series return. Struan Loy (played by Paul Higgins) is the first return, the agent from which leaves the whole plot of season 6 and the hunt for man. He makes Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman) suspicious of his death in a seemingly accidental fire in a container. We had seen it in the first season, assigned to Slough House after sending an inappropriate work email; at the end of that cycle Min and Louisa were unable to prevent his detention. We find it years later to try to open one’s own company, but the project will be blocked on the birth by the two assassins sent to eliminate it.

From the fourth chapter comes Moira Tregorian (Joanna Scanlan): one of the Database Queens (recordguards), exiled to Slough House by Claude Whelan. She had been Catherine’s temporary replacement (Saskia Reeves) with the aim of returning as soon as possible to the First Desk, and had managed to do so at the end of the season with a blackmail to Wheelan. We find her in the sixth season when Catherine asks her about deleting from the Slough House Agents database, and then running in her help when she is hit by the two assassins at her house. The two again form a couple on the genres of spy partnerships.
Louisa Guy (Rosalind Eleazar) appears in the first four seasons, finished in Lamb’s team after a very bad pawning operation. He partnered with Min and remains very traumatized by his death; so much to decide at the beginning of the fifth to take a mental health leave, which will become definitive. He returns despite in the mix when he becomes one of the goals of the two assassins in season 6. Shirley in particular is envious of the life that the woman managed to remake herself after Slough House: a beautiful company car, a beautiful house, a good salary and a high profile role in a company.
Another return from the inaugural cycle is that of Sidonie “Sid” Baker (Olivia Cooke, who had been the success of House of the Dragon when he was semi-unknown at the time). She is a competent and sympathetic MI5 agent inexplicably assigned to Slough House who approaches River (Jack Lowden) and dies apparently during an operation at the end of the first season. River had a doubt about his death because Roddy had told him that the data had been deleted but Taverner had assured everyone he had died. Now we find that he did it to “protect” it and to send it abroad in an unauthorized operation, which led the two assassins to look for it.
Slow Horses 6: i ritorni “prevedibili”
Two “institutional” returns are those of Emma Flyte (Ruth Bradley), the new and inflexible director of the Dogs from the fourth chapter. Peter Judd (Samuel West), Member of Parliament (first three years and then from fifth). He is a ruthlessly ambitious right-wing conservative politician now promoted to Interior Minister.
The first is now an honorary part of Lamb’s team, I realize I can’t trust Taverner, who will give her the welcome. The second gives Diana (Kristin Scott Thomas), revealing her intrigues and secrets including the unauthorized operation.
