Over fifty years since the debut of the famous television series with Michael Landon, La casa nel prateria returns with a new transposition produced by Netflix, available since July 9. The series is not a remake of the historical adaptation aired between 1974 and 1983, but a reinterpretation of the autobiographical novels by Laura Ingalls Wilder, with a closer approach to the original works.
Developed by Rebecca Sonnenshine, former serial author such as The Boys and The Vampire Diaries, the production combines family story, historical drama and survival, following the life of the Ingalls family during the transfer to the Kansas prairie. Before the debut, Netflix confirmed the renewal for a second season, a sign of the confidence in the project.

La trama della serie
The first season adapts the novel Little House on the Prairie, published in 1935, and follows the journey of the Ingalls family towards a new life in the frontier territories of the United States. Through the eyes of the young Laura, the series recounts the difficulties, hopes and challenges faced by pioneers, among the hard daily work, the relationship with nature and the construction of a community in a territory still largely unexplored.
Compared to the classic series, the new adaptation devotes greater attention to the historical context, including the presence of Native American communities and populations living in those territories, offering a representation closer to the events told in the books of Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Il cast
To play Laura Ingalls is young Alice Halsey, while Luke Bracey dresses up as father Charles Ingalls and Crosby Fitzgerald as mother Caroline. They complete the Skywalker Hughes family as Mary Ingalls.
The cast also includes Alyssa Wapanatâhk, Meegwun Fairbrother, Maclean Fish and Rebecca Amzallag, called to interpret unpublished or reworked characters from the historical television series.

The new La casa nel prateria was born with the aim of recounting the universe created by Laura Ingalls Wilder without simply reproposing the series of the 1970s. The showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine explained that she wanted to return the viewpoint of young Laura and the autobiographical character of the novels, keeping intact the themes of the family, solidarity and personal growth, but with greater attention to the historical and cultural reconstruction of the American frontier.
